Calligraphy — the highest level of writing
It is not about the letters, it is about the soul and the high feeling of passion that these letters express.
Sometimes, whether it is to make an entry in our diary, or because of the notebook (tablet, phone) absence, we search for a pen and a notepad or a piece of a scratch paper. Having written a few letters, words or even lines, probably each of us will notice in surprise (if not in shock), our letters jump from row to row, or how strangely the "bellies" of "b" and "d" are arched, or what kind of monogram are the "p" and "q" have. It is no secret that we actually write less and less as the time and progress develop and create modern technologies. And even if there still is a certain percentage of writing fans, the availability and popularity of blogs, speedy e-mails and spellcheckers definitely beat this love. But at the same time there remain people, who turn creating letters manually into an art form. Due to their uniqueness and rarity, these people are highly respected and valued. So, let's get a little acquainted to the art of calligraphy and its beautiful representatives from Kiev — Victoria and Vitalina Lopukhins. The sisters not only beautifully and clearly display every millimeter of letters or numbers, they study the ancient art of writing from the deepest history, give lectures on calligraphy and lettering, as well as try not to miss a single master classes around the world, while providing knowledge and get it from the world's guru. They were born on the same day which largely influenced the fact that today the girls are the parts of one whole and do not imagine the life and business without each other. Their brand VikaVita is very well known among designers, type designers and advertisers.
And this is no surprise, because the Lopukhins' works are expressive, sensuous and filigree. The sisters themselves tell about their passion to this form of art with the words of an outstanding representative of the Belarusian calligraphy, Professor Paul Semchenko: "If kissing you feel only lips, this is a wrong kiss. And the same it is with strokes in calligraphy, each line is an experience in this dance, movement in space, not just a letter. "The modern definition of calligraphy is simply the "beautiful writing": the art of design signs in an expressive, harmonious and skillful manner, Wikipedia says. But Victoria and Vitalina's works say that this definition is immeasurably narrow in relation to the breadth and diversity of this art. In each line, and even a point there lies its own history, its own soul. Choosing a style for a particular advertising campaign, a logo or commercial papers girls look in their very essence and select the best and most appropriate types of writing.
The Lopukhins took their calligraphic part in documentaries about Lermotov and the Romanovs, they cooperate with the stars of show-business and just big business, as well as put their hands to the development of the tiny and whimsical art of calligraphy in Ukraine.
